The largest internet security firm in China achieved the first GUI design patent certificate on August 14, 2014.  The application was filed by Qihoo 360.  It is also the first GUI design patent certificate issued in China, which indicates that GUI design patent gain the protection for the first time.

      GUI allows users to interact with electronic devices through graphical icons and other visual elements.  It’s said that the issued GUI design was related to a mobile phone.  Since the implementation of new revised Patent Examination in May 1, 2014, it cost only 10 working days from filing the GUI design patent to obtaining an authority certificate.

      The GUI patent certificate of Qihoo 360 is also the first authorized patent through the accelerated application since the GUI design patent was effective on May 1, 2014.
